How do you support parents of children with language delays to facilitate communication with their children? This question is at the heart of the project I work on with Dr. Meadan-Kaplansky. Our team, which includes Dr. Jim Halle and Dr. Meghan Bruke, has been developing a series of online learning modules that teach communication strategies such as environmental arrangement, modeling, mand modeling, and time delay. We presented our work in 2014 at the annual conference of the Division of Early Childhood to a practitioner and researcher audience as well as several other conferences. I lead an effort to write a paper on our work for Teaching Exceptional Children that will be published in 2015.
