Adolescent Development 405
For this course, I was an instructor and teaching assistant. It examined adolescents experience in important life contexts, such as family, peers, and school and how they negotiate the bio-psycho-social developmental tasks of this age period.
What did Sarah do well that helped you learn?
“Sarah did a nice job of repeating what we said in class and rewording it in a way that helped us understand the concepts more.”
“She had great examples and charts and graphs!”
“She used worksheets in during discussion to help me think more deeply about issues and broke us up into groups many times based on similar responses which I found really helpful.”
“She explained concepts that were difficult to understand in the readings, and used a lot of her own real life examples of working with youth. ”
“I think Sarah got straight to the point in lectures, she explained things well and made connections to our lives and hers when appropriate.”
“Ok, this might sound weird, but I liked the power point presentations she made. I really like looking at nice slides that are pretty and organized, and I felt like Sarah did a good job of that. It makes me want to look at the presentation more when it looks nice.”
What will you take away from this course?
“I will remember what I have learned in this course the next time I work with adolescents. Going through adolescence is changing all the time. I believe I improved on my writing skills a bit from this course and how to analyze an article or situation in the proper way. I also learned how to think critically about things and apply concepts. ”
“My views and perspectives on adolescence and early adulthood has definitely expanded. Cultural humility was what stuck to me most, and will be applying it to my future experiences.”
“How the period of adolescence is characterized by change and there are many factors that play a role in the developmental outcomes of youth. I also learned how to better work with adolescents in a meaningful way. ”
Introduction to Human Development 105 Online

Do you have any comments or suggestions that would help improve this course?
“Right now I think the course is set up extremely well. It has a nice balance of responses, completion work, assignments, and course exams. I felt like I learned a lot from this course mainly because it was set up effectively.”
“I was very impressed with the instructors knowledge as well as the fact they went above and beyond to find real life clips relevant to the course. I can’t stress how much I enjoyed our discussion introduction pieces.”
“I felt that this course was well organized and that I was able to learn on my own by reading the book and completing the electronic assignments. I do not think there is much that can improve the course.”
